3D Pinball for Windows — Space Cadet rules and strategy

The Strategy

Hit a Mission target, then shoot the left Launch Ramp to start that mission. Complete the displayed objective before fuel runs out. Refill fuel through the fuel chute, the bonus lane, or all three fuel targets, then repeat missions until the progress ring fills and your rank increases.

The goal

Choose a manageable mission at the three left-side Mission targets, start it at the left Launch Ramp, and protect its timer by refilling fuel. Repeat completed missions to fill the progress ring and climb from Cadet toward Fleet Admiral.

  1. Hit one of the three Mission targets to select an objective. Stop changing the selection when the display names a mission you can finish reliably.

  2. Shoot the left Launch Ramp to accept the selected mission.

  3. Follow the mission objective shown on the display; the required shots change with your current rank and selected mission.

  4. Before the last fuel light goes out, send the ball through the fuel chute or bonus lane, or complete all three fuel targets, to refuel and keep the mission alive.

  5. Complete missions until all 18 blue progress lights are on; the game then promotes you and opens the next rank's mission set.

Need to know
Choose Mission

Refill it through the fuel chute, the bonus lane, or all three fuel targets. The active mission aborts when the last fuel light goes out.

Machine setup

  • Confirm that you are playing the bundled Windows rules. The Full Tilt! release uses different rules, including a wormhole multiball not covered by this guide.
  • Confirm the left and right flipper keys, plunger key, and three nudge keys before starting; flipper inputs also rotate the re-entry and launch-lane lights.
  • If you are using a modern port, confirm that its selected data set is 3D Pinball for Windows rather than Full Tilt! Pinball.
