4 Square / Astro pinball rules and strategy
The Strategy
In 4 Square, complete 1-2-3-4 using any numbered lane or target. Each completion scores 500. The first raises the top lanes from 50 to 200, the second raises the yellow targets, and the third raises the green targets. After the fourth set, green targets score only Special while their Special lamps are lit; otherwise they retain their point value. Delay that set when Special has no tournament value.
The goal
Shoot upward and let the numbered feeds complete three sets naturally. Then identify the missing number and avoid it while repeating 200-point lanes and targets. Read side-lane exits early because their posts can send the ball toward either flipper or outlane.
Send the ball up the playfield and collect whichever of 1, 2, 3, or 4 is still missing.
Complete the first set to raise the top rollover values to 200.
Complete the second and third sets to raise the yellow and then green targets to 200.
After three sets, leave one number incomplete and repeat the other 200-point shots when possible.
Watch the side-lane exits and Move the cabinet briefly so the playfield shifts under the ball, changing its speed or path after contact with a post, rubber, or wall. before a rebound from the lower post sends the ball toward an outlane.
Need to know
- Complete 1-2-3-4
- Each completed set scores 500. The numbers reset after the first three sets, but not after the fourth.
