Big Deal pinball rules and strategy

The Strategy

Big Deal uses four Ace suits to light Double Bonus and a left-orbit return to revisit the top Ace lanes. Repeat the left orbit from the right flipper until all suits and 200,000 base bonus are ready, then alternate it with the horseshoe while both returns remain controlled.

The goal

Use the right flipper to repeat the left orbit and send the ball back to the Ace lanes. Collect all four suits for double bonus, build bonus to 200,000, then alternate the left orbit and horseshoe when their feeds are safe.

  1. Plunge toward an uncollected top Ace lane.

  2. Leave a flipper down and let the ball rebound from it toward the opposite flipper, reducing the ball’s momentum without a flip. a safe left-flipper feed, or use the proven left-to-right Shoot a moving inlane ball up the opposite inlane, carrying it behind the slingshot toward the upper playfield., to reach the right flipper.

  3. From the right flipper, shoot the left orbit for 5,000 and a feed back to the top Ace lanes.

  4. Use top-lane action to collect all four Ace suits and light double bonus.

  5. Continue the left-orbit route until bonus reaches 200,000.

  6. From the left flipper, shoot the horseshoe when its return is controlled.

  7. After double bonus and 200,000 are ready, alternate the left orbit and horseshoe instead of attacking the drop targets.

Alternative route: Right-flipper orbit loop

Use this plan when the horseshoe or drop-target area produces unsafe rebounds.

  1. Leave a flipper down and let the ball rebound from it toward the opposite flipper, reducing the ball’s momentum without a flip. a safe return onto the right flipper.
  2. Shoot the left orbit back to the top.
  3. Let the top lanes collect Aces and advance bonus.
  4. Repeat the orbit while its return remains predictable.

  • Confirm the four-player 1977 Williams Big Deal, not the unrelated 1963 title; verify ball count, tilt, replay, Extra Ball, and Special treatment.
  • Confirm all eight Ace lanes register, four suits light double bonus, base bonus stops at 200,000, and letter awards match the card.
  • Test the left-orbit top feed, horseshoe exit, standup and drop rebounds, and whether the Shatz and dead-bounce transfers are safe.
