Grand Slam / World Series pinball rules and strategy
The Strategy
Grand Slam / World Series uses side Double and Triple lanes for repeatable upper-playfield scoring. Plunge the top Home Run lane, keep using the safer side lane, accept base saucers through natural play, then shoot an outside Single standup for a 5,000-point Home Run when the bases are loaded.
The goal
use the side Double and Triple lanes for repeatable scoring, then collect a 5,000-point Home Run standup after loading the bases.
Plunge the top Home Run lane.
From either lower flipper, choose the cleaner side double or triple lane.
Let the lane feed continue into the upper bumpers.
Accept a base saucer only when the ball enters through natural play.
Track the runners after every hit result.
Continue side-lane scoring while the bases are not loaded.
When the bases load, shoot the safer outside Home Run standup for 5,000.
After the runners clear, resume side double and triple lanes.
Alternative route: Natural upper-play route
Use this plan when direct side-lane shots feed the slingshots or outlanes.
- Stop deliberate side-lane shots.
- Send the ball through the broadest upper-playfield opening.
- Use natural bumper action for hit results and base-saucer entries.
- Avoid the top roto-target face.
- Return to a side lane only after its feed becomes controlled.
Need to know
- Home Run plunge
- The preferred skill shot is the top Home Run lane on the Gottlieb-style playfield.
- Side hit lanes
- The side double and triple lanes provide the default repeatable scoring route into upper bumper action.
- Base saucers
- The first-base, second-base, and third-base saucers each score 1,000 and place a runner on that base.
Grand Slam / World Series uses side Double and Triple lanes for repeatable upper-playfield scoring. Repeat the safer Double or Triple lane into the bumpers, track runners after every hit, and avoid the risky roto-target. When all bases are occupied, shoot the safer outside Single standup before resuming the side-lane loop.
