Independence Day pinball rules and strategy
The Strategy
Independence Day starts Red Alert after three ramp shots, lights a Hurry-Up at the upper bank, and builds Area 51 Multiball at the lower bank. Repeat the safer ramp for Red Alert; when its return deteriorates, pivot to the bank whose next collect is controlled and use Area 51's extra balls for its upper-orbit Jackpots.
The goal
Repeat the safer ramp to start Red Alert, alternate controlled ramps during its 30-second scoring window, and pivot to Area 51 Multiball when the lower bank and upper orbit are safer.
Use the opening save to test both ramps, the upper orbit, left orbit, and returns from both three-banks.
Repeat whichever ramp returns predictably until the third combined ramp shot starts Red Alert.
During Red Alert, alternate only the ramp shots that can be caught or safely looped.
- Either ramp scores 50M for 30 seconds; do not spend the timer forcing a rejecting side.: Either ramp scores 50M for 30 seconds; do not spend the timer forcing a rejecting side.
If the ball reaches the bumpers safely, finish the upper three-bank and build the Hurry-Up before collecting it at the left orbit.
Complete the lower three-bank from controlled rebounds, then collect Alien Scan and accept Light Area 51 Multiball when it appears.
Start Area 51 Multiball at the upper orbit, repeat it for jackpots, and take each green target once for an add-a-ball.
Alternative route: Area 51 loop
Use this when either ramp rejects or the lower target bank is already close.
- Finish the lower three-bank from controlled shots.
- Collect Alien Scan until Area 51 Multiball is lit.
- Shoot the upper orbit to start multiball.
- Repeat the orbit jackpot without forcing the right-orbit value build.
Need to know
- Red Alert
- Three combined left- or right-ramp shots start 30 seconds in which either ramp scores 50M.
- Hurry-Up
- Complete the upper three-bank, build the value in the bumpers, then collect and repeat it at the left orbit.
- Alien Scan
- Complete the lower Area 51 three-bank, then hit it again for a rotating award that can light Area 51 Multiball.
Red Alert, the upper-bank Hurry-Up, and Area 51 Multiball advance independently in Independence Day. Favor repeatable ramps into Red Alert, use the upper bank and bumpers for Hurry-Up when that feed is safe, or finish the lower bank for Alien Scan and Area 51 Multiball. Choose by return quality and resume the strongest prepared route after each timed window.
