Magnotron / Duotron pinball rules and strategy

In Magnotron and Duotron, plunge the center A lane; B and C are also available at the return lanes. A full center Bonus Booster hit adds five Bonus steps in three-ball play or three in five-ball play. Build Bonus to 15,000, then shoot the center saucer for rising values and the right outlane gate. Return lanes close that gate.

The goal

Start with A, then use upper play or safe Booster hits to finish Bonus. Avoid shooting the lettered stand-ups directly. After Bonus is full, repeat the center saucer only if its kickout is safer than the upper return.

  1. Plunge the center A lane because it is the only regular way to collect A.

  2. Use the upper route for Bonus and allow B or C to arrive through the return lanes.

  3. If the rebound is safe, shoot the center Bonus Booster hard enough to carry its captive ball across.

  4. Reach 15,000 Bonus in three full Booster shots on three-ball settings, or combine Booster and upper advances in five-ball play.

  5. After Bonus is full, choose the center saucer for rising points and a gate, or stay up top when that feed is safer.

Machine setup

  • Confirm Magnotron or Duotron, three- or five-ball play, Special conversion, last-ball Double Bonus, and the corresponding five-step or three-step Bonus Booster behavior.
  • Test A-B-C lanes and lamps, matching targets and lower rollovers, both red Special targets, every Booster depth switch, Bonus to 15,000, center saucer value ladder and kickout, right outlane gate, and both gate-closing return lanes.
