Mustang pinball rules and strategy
The Strategy
Mustang uses the G-E-A-R-S drop bank to raise the current gear; once Gear 3 is reached, the scoop starts that gear's one-time Gear Shift Multiball. Spell 1-8-0 at the captive ball, then shoot the lit scoop to start Burnout Multiball. Complete the three small N2O targets, then hit the far-left N2O Boost target to start temporary 2x playfield scoring.
The goal
Complete G-E-A-R-S and shoot the scoop for Gear 3 Multiball, or spell 1-8-0 at the captive ball and shoot the scoop for Burnout Multiball.
Start Gear 3 Multiball
Complete the GEARS drop targets until gear 3 lights the scoop, then shoot the scoop to start Gear 3 Multiball.
Alternative route: Burnout Multiball
Use this as the separate captive-ball Multiball route.
- Spell 1-8-0 at the captive ball, then shoot the lit scoop to start Burnout Multiball.

- Gear Shift Multiball
- Reach gear 3 or higher, then shoot the scoop to start that gear's Shoot an incoming ball directly from its feed without first trapping it on the flipper. Multiball.
- N2O
- Complete the three small N2O targets, then hit the far-left N2O Boost target to start temporary 2x playfield scoring.
- FORD add-a-ball
- Spell FORD in the bottom lanes, then shoot the scoop during Multiball.
Mustang makes each Gear Shift Multiball available only once, with higher gears raising its Super Jackpot value. Complete the G-E-A-R-S bank until Gear 4 is reached, then shoot the scoop to start Gear 4 Multiball. Make a drop-target or mini-Jackpot shot to light the Super Jackpot; complete the three small N2O targets and hit the far-left N2O Boost target to start 2x before collecting it.

- Hold the left flipper during the plunge. Hit the A segment of the G-E-A-R-S bank while it is lit to advance two gears, up to Gear 4.
- Complete the G-E-A-R-S drop targets to shift one gear at a time. Continue until Gear 4 is reached.
Gear Shift qualification details

- Reach gear 4 and shoot the scoop to start Gear 4 Multiball.

- On code 1.45, the Gear 4 Super Jackpot has a 10,000,000 base value.
- Complete the three small N2O targets, then hit the far-left N2O Boost target to start temporary 2x playfield scoring before the Super Jackpot.
- Spell FORD in the bottom lanes. Shoot the scoop to add a ball.
- Complete the three RPM targets to start their timed scoring, then keep hitting the bank to restart its timer.
Builds toward: Mustang Multiball and Silverball Stampede
- Play each unique Gear Shift Multiball once.
- Spell MUSTANG to qualify the four-ball Mustang Multiball.
- Complete the six modes and the other required features.
- Start Silverball Stampede after the final qualification is complete.
