On Beam pinball rules and strategy

Strategy summary

The goal

Align the spaceship with the space station’s beam, then advance the ship to the station. Docking lights Special at the center target, where you collect an extra ball.

  1. Align the ship: Shoot the lit upper rollover or hit the lit mushroom bumper to move the spaceship onto the space station’s beam. An unlit one changes the ship to a different beam.

  2. Advance the ship: With the ship on the station’s beam, hit the center target while Special is unlit to move the ship one step. Lit pop bumpers and either slingshot also advance the ship.

  3. Dock at the station: Advance the ship to the space station to score 3,000 points and light Special at the center target. Docking qualifies the extra ball; the lit target collects it.

  4. Collect the extra ball: Hit the center target while Special is lit. An extra ball launches onto the playfield from between the flippers, and a star lights at the bottom-left of the backglass.
