Orbit / Outer Space pinball rules and strategy

In Orbit and Outer Space, plunge the center Bonus-advance lane. Then shoot the right spinner or left vari-target: every 100 points moves the spaceship, and every ten moves add one Bonus step. The upper gate scores 3,000 and returns the ball to the plunger. Build Bonus toward 10,000, collect the gate, and repeat the plunge.

The goal

Favor the right spinner until the left vari-target rebound proves controllable. Take the always-open upper gate for 3,000 and another plunge. The left return lane opens the lower gate. Going through the upper gate closes the lower gate again.

  1. Plunge the center Bonus-advance lane at the upper left.

  2. From the left flipper, shoot the right spinner to build spaceship and Bonus progress.

  3. With the ball settled on the right flipper, test the left vari-target. Use it only when the rebound returns safely.

  4. Shoot the always-open upper gate for 3,000 and a return to the plunger.

  5. Repeat the center-lane plunge and build toward the 10,000 maximum Bonus before the end-of-ball collect.

Machine setup

  • Identify four-player Orbit or two-player Outer Space, then confirm three- or five-ball play, last-ball Double Bonus, Special conversion, and whether the lower gate behaves as expected after the left return lane and upper gate.
  • Test the three upper-left lanes, spaceship stepper and every tenth-step Bonus advance, Bonus to 10,000, all vari-target depths, right spinner, upper gate and plunger return, left-return lower-gate switch, and bumper feeds around both sides.
