Spirit of 76 / Pioneer / New York pinball rules and strategy

Complete A-B-C-D-E, then clear all eight drop targets. The center saucer cycles among its lit awards: letters qualify Extra Ball, drops qualify double bonus, and both objectives qualify Special. After collecting double bonus, clear the drops again to make a later lit saucer collection worth 4x bonus.

The goal

Go to the top until the five letters are complete, then pick off the drop bank from controlled feeds. Watch the saucer lamp cycle and shoot only when the desired award is lit; a premature collect can waste the stronger bonus state.

  1. Shoot to the top until A-B-C-D-E is complete.

  2. Clear the eight drop targets from controlled side feeds.

  3. Watch the center saucer cycle and shoot it while double bonus or the desired configured award is lit.

  4. After a double-bonus collect, clear the drops again to qualify a 4x bonus saucer collection.

Machine setup

  • Identify Spirit of 76, Pioneer, New York, or the grouped licensed variant; test A-B-C-D-E, all eight drops and reset, star rollovers, center saucer and eject, cycling lamps, and bonus ladder.
  • Confirm three- or five-ball rules, Extra Ball and Special awards, saucer timing, and whether drop and letter progress carries between balls on the installed version.
