Waterworld pinball rules and strategy

The Strategy

Waterworld uses the broad half-pipe to spell WATERWORLD and place three balls in the rotating boat. The boat then releases four-ball Multiball for the displayed Jackpot route. Use the Dive Hole and Dirt awards as supporting choices when their feeds are safer than another half-pipe shot.

The goal

Use the broad half-pipe to spell W-A-T-E-R-W-O-R-L-D and qualify boat locks, collect three physical locks for four-ball play, then shoot the Jackpot or Super shots shown on the display.

  1. Test the half-pipe return, boat optos, Dive Hole eject, Harpoon kicker, Curvy lane, and orbits before choosing the route.

  2. Repeat the half-pipe while its return reaches a controlled flipper, using it to spell WATERWORLD and qualify boat locks.

  3. When lock is active, send three balls into the boat and watch the display after each shot for the registered lock.

  4. Start the four-ball boat multiball when the mechanism turns and releases the retained balls.

  5. Read the display and collect only the currently lit Jackpot or Super shots; the order can vary by ROM or game state.

  6. Between starts, use the Dive Hole grid for feature or Jackpot progress when its eject is safer than the Harpoon lane.

  7. Trade Dirt only after reading the current threshold and award on the apron or display.

Alternative route: Dive Hole award grid

Use this when the half-pipe rejects or the boat fails to register locks.

  1. Shoot the Dive Hole from a settled feed.
  2. Take the useful feature or center Jackpot award shown in the grid.
  3. Resume the half-pipe only when its return is controlled and its optos are registering.
