X-Men pinball rules and strategy

The Strategy

X-Men starts Hero modes at their character shots, Villain modes at the Blackbird scoop, and Magneto Multiball at the center lock. Most Heroes start after two shots; the right Iceman ramp twice starts and completes Iceman. Complete the Blackbird rollover lanes once for Mystery and again for Villain. Hit both Magneto targets and shoot a flashing lock shot; after the first lock, seven captive-lock hits start Multiball with the balls already locked.

The goal

Most Hero modes start after two shots to that Hero. Complete the Blackbird rollover lanes once for Mystery and again for a Villain. For Magneto Multiball, hit both Magneto targets and shoot a flashing lock shot; after the first lock, seven captive-lock hits start Multiball with the locked balls.

  1. How to start a mode

Shoot the right Iceman ramp twice to start and complete Iceman.

    Recommended mode: Iceman

It is the shortest Hero objective: the second Iceman-ramp shot completes it.

    How to play it

With default Hero Stacking off, finish Iceman before starting another Hero.

  2. Start Sentinels

Complete the Blackbird rollover lanes once to light Mystery and a second time to light Villain. Shoot the Blackbird scoop, select Sentinels with the flippers, then press both flippers to start it. Shoot any major shot; left shots damage the left Sentinel and right shots damage the right Sentinel.

  3. Start an early Magneto Multiball

Hit both upright targets beside Magneto to light a lock, then shoot Phoenix, Rogue, or Magneto while its Lock insert flashes. After the first lock, hit the captive lock ball seven times to start Magneto Multiball with the locked balls.

Alternative route: four-ball Magneto Multiball

Use the complete lock sequence when you want four balls and stronger scoring from additional started Heroes.

  1. Repeat both Magneto upright targets and one flashing Phoenix, Rogue, or Magneto lock shot until three balls are locked. Complete the sequence once more to start four-ball Magneto Multiball.
