Trust
On a machine with a center post between the flippers, deliberately leave both flippers down so a ball heading straight down the middle rebounds off the post and back into play.
Also called: Trust catch, Center post trust, Chill, Chill maneuver
How it works
- Confirm that the machine has a center post between the flippers.
- As the ball heads straight down the middle toward the post, keep both flippers down.
- When the ball rebounds above the flippers, flip it to safety or catch it.
- Use it when
- A ball is heading straight down the middle of a machine fitted with a center post.
- Watch for
- If you misjudge the path, the ball drains with no save attempt. Flipping early can let the ball hit the underside of the raised flipper and drain as it lowers.
- Practice
- Watch how the post returns center balls on that machine before you trust it in competition.
