Bobby Orr's Power Play pinball rules and strategy

In Bobby Orr's Power Play, each completion of either four-bank raises Bonus X from 2x to 3x and then 5x. Complete a controlled bank three times, build base bonus to 29,000, and protect the 145,000 end-of-ball collect.

The goal

Complete either four-bank three times for 5x, favor lower-flipper shots when upper-flipper play creates unsafe side movement, build base bonus to 29,000, and protect the 145,000 end-of-ball collect.

  1. On the plunge, pass over the top star rollover and fall into the top saucer when possible.

    • Center-post skill shot: The top rollover raises the center post. The saucer starts at 3,000 and adds 3,000 per collect, to 15,000.

  2. Test one drop-bank rebound from each lower flipper. Watch the upper-flipper and bumper exits.

  3. Complete either four-bank once for 2x.

  4. Complete either bank again for 3x.

  5. Complete either bank a third time for 5x.

    • : On default settings, completing either bank raises both banks for the next award.

  6. Build base bonus with drops, orbits, lanes, the center target, and the top saucer.

    • : Base bonus reaches 29,000. At 5x, the maximum end-of-ball bonus is 145,000.

  7. Continue either bank only when the displayed Extra Ball or Special gives useful tournament points.

  8. If the top feed is reliable, shoot either orbit for repeat saucer collects.

  9. Hit the center-post standup before a center feed settles to raise the post.

Alternative route: Orbits and the top saucer

Use this plan when the drop-bank rebounds are unsafe.

  1. Shoot either orbit to return the ball to the top.
  2. for the top rollover when the center post is down. Guide the ball into the top saucer.
  3. The saucer scores 3,000, 6,000, 9,000, 12,000, then 15,000 on later collects.
  4. The 6,000 collect lights the left-orbit stars for bonus advances.
  5. The 12,000 collect lights the right-orbit stars and alternating outlane Special.
  6. Repeat only while the orbit and saucer feeds remain controlled.

  • Confirm 1977 Bally Bobby Orr's Power Play, ball count, tilt, and switch 14's conservative or liberal 5x, Extra Ball, and Special ladder.
  • Confirm switch 22 bank resets, switches 31 and 32 award conversions, 29K base maximum, Bonus X reset, and the five-step saucer ladder.
  • Test both banks, upper flippers, center-post raise and lower switches, top rollover and saucer, orbits, bumpers, return lanes, and cross-playfield rebounds.
