Doozie / Daffie pinball rules and strategy

The Strategy

Doozie / Daffie carries incomplete progress on numbers 1 through 5 between balls. Plunge through 5 and one missing lower lane, use the wider center gaps to return upstairs, and let bumper action collect center rollovers while the upper-right gate provides another plunge.

The goal

Complete 1 through 5 repeatedly by sending the ball through the wider bumper gaps, open the upper-right return gate early, and let bumper action collect center rollovers instead of shooting them directly.

  1. Read which of numbers 1 through 5 are missing before the plunge.

  2. Plunge through the top 5 rollover and then a missing lane from 1 through 4; choose 1 when every lower number is currently unlit.

  3. During the first bumper sequence, use only a legal, controlled Move the cabinet briefly so the playfield shifts under the ball, changing its speed or path after contact with a post, rubber, or wall. toward the upper-left Open Gate target.

  4. From either flipper, send the ball through a wide center gap between the bumpers.

  5. Let bumper action and downward feeds collect needed center rollovers naturally.

  6. When the upper-right gate is open, accept its plunger-lane return and use the next plunge to collect another needed number.

  7. If the zipper flippers close incidentally, Hold a raised flipper so a slow ball settles against it, giving you time to plan your next move. the ball and Release and repress a flipper very quickly to make a small, precise change to a slow ball. into the next center-gap shot.

  8. After completing 1 through 5, read the reset lamps and repeat the route.

Alternative route: Closed-flipper control

Use this plan when upper-playfield exits repeatedly reach the slingshots or side drains.

  1. Do not shoot a Close Flippers target deliberately after an unsafe rebound.
  2. When the flippers close through natural play, let the ball settle across the zipped pair.
  3. Release and repress a flipper very quickly to make a small, precise change to a slow ball. toward the flipper with the safer upper angle.
  4. Send the ball through the nearest wide center gap.
  5. Resume number-set play only after the return is controlled.
