Mystic pinball rules and strategy

The Strategy

Mystic carries its tic-tac-toe grid between balls and multiplies it at the captive ball. Use the side banks to place needed symbols, complete the nine-square grid repeatedly, then raise Bonus X to 4x. Protect the stored bonus rather than forcing the center bank.

The goal

Hit the side-bank drop targets to build matching tic-tac-toe lines on ball one. Let rebounds work on the center bank, then raise Bonus X at the captive ball.

  1. Plunge for the center saucer. Move the cabinet briefly so the playfield shifts under the ball, changing its speed or path after contact with a post, rubber, or wall. only enough to keep a near miss in the upper area.

  2. Read the Eye and Pyramid lamp at each three-target bank. Hit a side-bank target when it places the symbol needed for a three-square line.

    • Each drop target controls one grid square. Ten-point switches change the active Eye or Pyramid symbol for each bank.: Each drop target controls one grid square. Ten-point switches change the active Eye or Pyramid symbol for each bank.
    • A matching horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line adds a 9,000 bonus circle.
  3. Complete the two side banks first. Let rebounds and sling action work on the center bank.

  4. Complete all nine grid squares to reset the grid. Keep building matching lines on ball one.

    • Each filled square adds 3,000 bonus. Filled squares and completed 9,000 circles hold for the whole game.
    • One full same-symbol grid makes eight lines. Its 72,000 line value plus 27,000 in squares gives 99,000 base bonus.
  5. After the base bonus is large, hit the captive ball four times to reach 4x Bonus X.

    • Captive ball: The first hit scores 5,000. The next three hits award 2x, 3x, and 4x Bonus X.
    • The largest held base before the grid resets is 96,000. At 4x, it pays 384,000.
  6. Use a lit spinner only when its bumper return is safer than the remaining drop targets.

Alternative route: Lit-spinner route

Use this when the spinner is strong and the bumper exit returns safely.

  1. From the right flipper, shoot the left spinner to the upper playfield.
  2. Move the cabinet briefly so the playfield shifts under the ball, changing its speed or path after contact with a post, rubber, or wall. for the center saucer or a needed top star lane.
  3. Stop the route if a partial spinner shot or bumper exit reaches a sling or the center drain.
