Torch pinball rules and strategy

The Strategy

Torch records nine roto-target positions in a grid and turns completed patterns into Bonus X. Use the right flipper for needed grid positions, rotate the wheel from the left, and complete the four corners before attempting the full grid and upper-right bonus collect.

The goal

From the right flipper, collect needed roto-target grid positions. From the left, use the upper-right gate to spin the wheel and reach the top lanes. At a near-full grid, switch to drops and build the 10X, 20,000 bonus collect.

  1. Plunge for one of the two left top lanes because gate shots more often feed the right pair.

  2. Read the 3-by-3 grid and the three numbers currently exposed on the roto target.

  3. From the right flipper, shoot an exposed A, B, or C target only when that position is unlit.

  4. From the left flipper, shoot the upper-right gate to rotate the wheel and reach the top lanes.

  5. Alternate roto hits and gate shots until the grid is nearly full.

  6. If an exposed roto position completes an early 2X diagonal, 3X A-B-C line, or 4X same-position line, collect it before continuing toward the full grid.

  7. Use the left and right drop banks to spot missing corner pairs and build base bonus.

  8. After all nine grid positions are lit, continue drop targets until base bonus reaches 20,000.

  9. Shoot the upper-right gate to collect 20,000 at 10X, then keep shooting targets while 10X remains.

Alternative route: Two-bank corner route

Use this plan when the roto target is difficult to read or hit accurately.

  1. Complete the left five-bank to spot A1 and C3.
  2. Complete the right bank to spot A3 and C1.
  3. Take the guaranteed four-corner 5X multiplier.
  4. Use lanes and the gate to rotate the wheel before trying only clearly missing grid positions.
Need to know
Roto grid
The wheel exposes A, B, and C targets numbered 1 through 3; the center B2 position starts spotted.
Multiplier patterns
A diagonal gives 2X, a three-position line gives 3X or 4X, the four corners give 5X, and all nine positions give 10X.
Wheel advance
Any of six lanes, the upper-right gate, or the bullseye below it rotates the exposed target numbers.

Machine setup

  • Confirm Torch instruction card, ball count, and award settings.
  • Test roto alignment, upper gate, posts, and target values.
